Investments in the Sugar Industry guarantee efficient harvest

Over 40 sugar cane mills will be in charge of the sugar production during the upcoming sugar cane harvest. To corroborate the efficiency of the preparations in the industry, a test exercise is carried out which foretells in Cienfuegos a more efficient milling.

These days, action returns to "14 de Julio" Sugar Enterprise, the first in the country in completing its share in the former harvest.
The performance of 95 % of the equipment is being checked. To be finished a remodelation of a 35 tons boiler that could enable the energy self sufficiency,plus a contribution to the National ElectricitySystem; and they are working on the automatization of the main processes.

These are investments that widen up through the Cuban industry seeking for increases in manufacturing performance. On this topic, the Director of sugar from the Sugar Ministry (spanish MINAZ) Wilson Carbonell, assured that among the main works in the country can be considered 7 boilers, three turbogenerators, which will contribute mainly to enhance our power generation capacity so we can be able of self supplying electrical energy and contribute to the National Electricity System (spanish SEN).

The test exercise at "14 de Julio" enterprise, carried out 36 days before the beginning of the milling, reports about the technical conditions and the quality of the repairing works. Which constitutes a tradition among local sugar workers is generalized this year within the sector, priorizing 7 sugar mills which will begin grinding since next December, stated Morell.

According to the Delegate of the Enterprise Group here, Engineer Pedro Pérez, a strategy which comprises the details of harvesting, transportation and milling, clears out the way to the most efficient harvest ever made in the territory.

For the future campaign are guaranteed, for instance, a bigger number of tow trucks, which will make sure a more efficient transportation of the sugar cane.

The official also added that the present test exercise is beneficial not only to assess the performance of the factory but also the rest of the established controls, among which he mentioned the quality of the sugar cane, the ones related to the new forms of payment and attention to the producer.

The "14 de Julio" enterprise will begin production from December for consumption within this and other provinces; while “Antonio Sanchez” and "5 de Septiembre" will join the process from January 2010.
