Atlanta-based Global Energy Holdings has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy as it tries to move from ethanol to landfill gas production.
The bankruptcy filing came despite the firm reporting 28 million in assets and only $3.7 million in liabilities.
Over the last two years, Global has lost almost $45 million. It has reported losses of around $7 million so far in 2009.
Global is working on a deal to provide landfill gas to Coca Cola.
