SUGAR LAND, TX,(MARKET WIRE via COMTEX) -- Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- LyondellBasell Industries (Rotterdam, The Netherlands) announced plans this week to permanently close its Chocolate Bayou olefins complex in Alvin, Texas. This plant site includes a 1.2 billion-pound-per-year ethylene unit (nine furnaces), butadiene unit, benzene unit, aromatics unit and MTBE unit. Like many of the olefin producers located along the Gulf Coast, the ethylene unit has been offline for an extended period of time because of poor market conditions.
