German 2010/11 sugar production down on year

Germany produced an estimated 3.64m tonnes of refined sugar in the 2010/11 production season which has just ended, the head of German sugar industry association WVZ told Reuters on Wednesday.

This was up from the WVZ's last estimate of 3.62m tonnes issued in November, but down from the 4.2m tonnes produced in the 2009/10 production season. The WVZ is likely to issue its final production figures in March.
