mnicane Ltd., a Mauritian sugar producer, will start producing ethanol on an industrial basis from June, l'Express reported.

Omnicane will own 31 percent of Omnicane Ethanol Holding, which is forecast to produce 22.5 million litres of ethanol a year, the Port Louis-based newspaper said, citing unidentified people involved in the project.

Investment in the project is estimated at 700 million rupees, l'Express said.
