Negotiations are still continuing between the Sugar Cane Growers Council, the FSC and the Sugar Industry Tribunal to officially end the 2010 crushing season at the Rarawai and Labasa sugar mills.
Council Acting chief executive Sundresh Chetty said this morning that while the FSC wanted to end crushing at Rarawai before Christmas - this is still to be finalized.
Chetty also says that while the Tribunal announced 24th of this month as the last day for crushing at the Labasa Sugar Mill, the Council is negotiating with the FSC for a further extension.
Chetty claims a lot of cane are still to be crushed in Labasa due to mill breakdowns and frequent crushing stoppages.
Tribunal Registrar Timoci Brown could not be reached for a comment as he was busy with other commitments.
