The Labasa sugar mill is still struggling to end the 2010 crushing season as the mill is facing problems to finish off with more than five hundred rail trucks of cane still left in the mill yard for crushing.

According to the Fiji Sugar Corporation lorry gangs stopped harvesting on December 24 2010. FSC in Labasa says because of crushing stoppages from time to time since last Friday the mill is still crushing until this morning.

In Ba the Sugar Industry Tribunal has approved that the Rarawai Sugar Mill in Ba will end the 2010 crushing season on 7th of next month.

The Sugar Cane Growers Council Acting CEO-Sunderesh Chetty says close to 30,000 tonnes of cane still left to be crushed by Rarawai Sugar Mill.

Chetty is urging all gangs to keep the cane supply constant for Rarawai mill as crushing continues this morning after two days of stoppage due to adverse weather conditions and lack of cane supply.
