ndia will be showcased in an international forum on July 2 minus Kashmir, thanks to the Sugar Technologists’ Association of India (STAI), which is hosting a three-day sugar expo in Nairobi in Kenya.
The apex body comprising sugar industry professionals of India has in its logo a distorted map of India. Kashmir is not properly shown in the map and the position of Gujarat is incorrect.
The association, which was founded in 1925 and is supported by the ministries of consumer affairs, food and public distribution and commerce and industry of the Government of India, will have many players from Egypt and other countries besides dignitaries from the Government of India and the Government of Kenya, according to an STAI press release.
When contacted on the phone, Major General Manoj Tayal, Additional Surveyor General (Headquarters) told Hindustan Times: “Using a distorted form of India’s map is a major offence. We will look at it and if it is found to be distorted, we will take up the matter soon.
“The matter should have been brought to our notice earlier and we would have restrained them from using the distorted form of India’s map and showcasing it in an international platform.”
STAI could not be contacted for comment, as all the officials have reportedly gone to Kenya for the expo.
