First Lady Michelle Obama is commending the food industry for taking the initiative when it comes to cutting calories from their products.

The obesity epidemic in the country is growing to enormous proportions, in no short thanks to the food industry and their big servings of carb buster, sugar laiden foods.

According to Obama, 16 corperations that account for up to 25 percent of the American food supply chain have agreed to trim more than one trillion calories by the year of 2012.

“They’ve agreed to reformulate their foods in a number of ways, including by addressing fat and sugar content, by introducing lower-calorie options, and by reducing the portion sizes of existing single-serve products,” Obama said.

Although the food industry must claim partial responsibility for the obesity epidemic in America, people living in this country need to also face the fact that they are their own worst enemy when it comes to their weight.

It appears that the food industry is doing their bit to help out, now it is time for Americans to do their own part and start showing restraint at the dinner table.
