ISLAMABAD: The government on Thursday constituted a committee to work out on feasibility plan substituting diesel with ethanol on fast track basis. The study would be completed in two months and in this context, further studies for using pure ethanol as fuel in buses might also be conducted to evaluate and assess its suitability.
This decision was taken during the 12th meeting of the Board of Governors of Hydrocarbon Development Institute of Pakistan (HDIP) here on Thursday. The meeting was presided over by Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Syed Naveed Qamar.
The minister said that with the induction of new members, the Board now has representation of all provinces. The Board also approved a proposal of HDIP for seeking technical assistance from the World Bank to establish necessary facilities for enhancing production of gas from unconventional and tight gas reservoirs. The proposal to obtain ISO certification for laboratories of the HDIP was also approved for obtaining the accreditation of its labs.
The minister also appreciated the progress made by HDIP regarding various technical activities and express his satisfaction on the implementation of various ongoing and the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) projects.
