Ethanol, seed companies upbeat on increase in corn yields

Ethanol and seed companies are optimistic that U.S. corn production will double in the next two decades, especially with the recent sequencing of the corn genome that could lead to more genetic modifications to the crop.

However, agronomists express concerns that farmers have reached the limits of how much corn they can produce because crop yields on some of the largest farms have remained the same for the past 20 years.
