End use of corn ethanol for better fuel efficiency

So the Obama administration is mandating better fuel efficiency for automobiles.

We could gain up to 10 percent better fuel efficiency for automobiles by stopping the use of corn ethanol. A gallon of ethanol contains far less BTU energy than a gallon of regular gasoline.

My 1997 Toyota pickup gets 27 mpg on regular gasoline. When I burn 10 percent ethanol fuel, my mileage drops to just over 24 mpg. Apply this wasted mileage to the entire U.S. auto fleet and the savings would be staggering.

On top of that, taxpayers subsidize ethanol about 50 cents on each and every gallon produced in addition to the pump price they pay.

Finally, with all that corn going into the tank, food prices can be compromised as well.

It's time government sober up and admit ethanol isn't green energy!
