O’NEIL, Neb. – A Fargo-based company bought an ethanol plant in northeast Nebraska at a public auction on Tuesday.

Radio station KBRX reports NEDAK Ethanol’s Atkinson plant was sold for $22 million Tuesday at the Holt County Courthouse in O’Neill. The station reports that Choice Ethanol Holding of Fargo bought the plant as the only bidder.

It is unclear what will happen to the plant or to the company.

The plant uses about 19 million bushels of corn a year, and produces about

51 million gallons of denatured fuel-grade ethanol.

The company temporarily stopped production last May to monitor the corn and ethanol markets.
