Karnal Cooperative Sugar Mill bags Best Cooperative Sugar Factory Award

AHMEDABAD: Karnal Cooperative Sugar Mill has bagged the Best Cooperative Sugar Factory Award by the Union Ministry of Food and Supplies for getting first place in the other recovery area in the country.

Deputy Commissioner, Karnal, Neelam Pradeep Kasni, who is also Chairman of Karnal Cooperative Sugar Mill, said that the central government had made two recovery areas in the country, namely high recovery division comprising Maharashtra and Gujarat states and other recovery area comprising rest of the states in the country.

"The GOI had awarded cooperative sugar mills of the country for their outstanding performance in the different fields during the year 2010-11 and the selection of cooperative sugarmill, Karnal for the award had made the people of the state proud,"she said.

Highlighting the achievements of the mill, the deputy commissioner said that the mill was set up in 1976 and it had got national awards 12 times for its outstanding performance in various fields. The mill got third national award for technical efficiency in 1989-90 and thereafter got second national award in this field in 1990-91. In the year 1991-92, the mill got first award in the field of technical efficiency and second award in the field of sugarcane development.

It got commendation certificate at national level in 1993-94 and 1996-97.It got second national award in the field of sugarcane development in the year 2001 and it got second national award in the financial management in other recovery area in the year 2002. The mill got first award for outstanding financial management in other recovery area in the year 2004-05 and it also got second award for sugarcane development in other recovery area in the year 2007-08. This year, the mill had got first efficiency award at national level after a gap of ten years.
