A lot of overseas markets are interested in buying Fiji sugar and are offering very lucrative deals which can greatly benefit our Sugar Industry.
Sugar Ministry Permanent Secretary Manasa Vaniqi says there has been much interest from Asian countries like China and Japan, Middle East and also Bangladesh.
Vaniqi says London’s Tate and Lyle Refinery also offer a good deal and this year they have increased the price of sugar.
He says while there are other lucrative markets they will continue the business with Tate and Lyle as a binding contract still exists with the London based company.
He says the contract with the London company will expire on 2015.
