There is a possibility Fiji could resume its sugar export to Japan.
Fiji Sugar Corporation CEO Abdul Khan says Fiji could re-enter the Japanese market if a visiting delegation from Japan is impressed.
Khan says the officials will be in the country for direct consultation with FSC officials on proposed quota and shipment arrangements.
The visit stems from various works undertaken by Fiji’s Ambassador to Japan Isikeli Mataitoga.
He provided a brief of the sugar industry, the projection of production from 2011 onwards based on restructure the current crop now under cultivation and the availability of farm lands for large scale farming.
Sojitz Corp used to have exclusive rights for distribution of Fiji sugar in Japan and Korea.
