FULTON, — BlueFire Renewables Inc. has received permits from the state to begin construction its biofuels plant in Fulton.

The Mississippi Business Journal reports the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality has issued the final air, wastewater and storm water permits to start construction.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers also issued a wetlands permit to the company.

BlueFire is locating its plant in an industrial park in Itawamba County.

BlueFire officials say they will use green and wood wastes available in the region as feedstock for the ethanol plant that is designed to produce about 19 million gallons of ethanol per year.
