New Delhi, Nov 21 (PTI) Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA) today demanded that the government should fix the final price of ethanol at the earliest for smooth implementation of five per cent ethanol blending with petrol.
In August this year, the government had fixed an interim price of Rs 27 a litre for ethanol for doping in petrol. It had set up a committee, under the Chairmanship of Planning Commission member Saumitra Chaudhuri, to suggest final price.
"The contracts have been finalised with oil marketing companies for supply of about 600 million litres of ethanol and delivery has started. Therefore, we request the government to fix the final rate of ethanol so that we can make payments accordingly," ISMA Director General Abinash Verma told PTI.
