Las Tunas, Cuba, – An automated system introduced in the sugar industry guarantees control and classification of sugar cane bulks at collection centers with the Las Tunas Antonio Guiteras Enteprise, on the northern municipality of Puerto Padre.
The software program, produced by Master in Science Niurvis Caballero and named SIACA, sorts out sugar cane according to the different cooperative farms where the raw material was produced.
The new method also provides information about the technique that was used to harvest the plantation, mechanized or manual, burnt or green, which facilitates adequate pay to farmers and other proceedings relevant to each case.
The method has been successfully applied during the latest sugar cane harvests linked to the Antonio Guiteras sugar mill and its use could be expanded through the province and the country.
The Antonio Guiteras sugar factory has operated since the early 20th century and has reported several production records, including being the largest sugar producer and having the largest number of plants producing sugar cane derivatives.
