The sugar industry of Andhra Pradesh has mentioned that as many as 100 lakh metric tonne of sugarcane will be crushed in the current 2010-11 season.

The Minister stated that around 36 sugar factories in the state the target crushing of sugarcane this year is 100 lakh metric tonne which is 44.51 lakh metric tonne more as compared to last year.

Industry Minister also announced the constitution of a research and development wing like the neighbouring states such as Tamilnadu and Maharashra, for improving the factory capacity and cultivation of sugarcane.

The Minister stated that the government this year again implementing purchase tax incentives for the sugar factory owners and sugarcane farmers at Rs 60 and Rs 22 per quintal respectively.
