The remodeling of a boiler in Batalla de las Guásimas sugarcane mill is the main investment conducted at present by Cuba’s Sugar Ministry in the central-eastern province of Camagüey.
“We are witnesses of the biggest work underway now”, said engineer Pablo Méndez, main chief, and added that “with the rise of the steam output, the sugarcane mill will increase its production”.
The Grupo Empresarial de Construcciones Azucareras (GECA) is the company that is renovating the boiler –manufactured in Germany – as part of a project designed to improve the functioning of the sugar industry in Cuba.
The project foresees to build and assemble structures, a dome and pipes. The deadline is November 30th, though we must test it two months earlier”, emphasized Méndez.
This 3 million pesos worth investment will also allow a greater energy efficiency in this sugarcane mill, one of three complexes along with Siboney and Argentina that will be grinding in the next cane-cutting season.
Batalla de las Guásimas sugarcane mill, located in the municipality of Vertienets, met its production commitments in the past harvest.
