MADISON, Wis. — The state Department of Justice says it's settled environmental lawsuits against ethanol and milling companies operating in Columbia County.
Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen says Didion Milling and Didion Ethanol have each agreed to pay $525,000 in penalties to the state.
A civil complaint filed by the state accused Didion of a series of air pollution permit violations at its corn milling facility in Cambria. The state also accused Didion Ethanol of violating air pollution and wastewater permit rules at its ethanol production facility in the Town of Courtland.
Didion Milling, with headquarters in Johnson Creek, says in a statement the company is glad to have the issues behind it.
