There was one car that was hard to avoid at this year's New York Auto Show. Well, quite a few. But this one in particular sortof encapsulated a couple themes. One, the horsepower wars continue. Two, it's spring, the stock market is going up and the economy is healing. Let's have some fun.

It was the Bentley Supersports convertible with a 621-horsepower, twin-turbocharged 12-cylinder engine that is capable of running on both gasoline and E85 ethanol. Top down, laugh out loud, automotive joy.

Bentley is about the only automaker we've encountered recently that is still leaning on the ethanol claim as way of saying a monsterous engine is still environmentally conscious. To wit:

"The new Supersports convertible is the most powerful drop-top we've ever produced," said Bentley President Christophe Georges. "This extreme power combines with pioneering FlexFuel technology, now shared with all Continental models, reflecting Bentley's ongoing commitment to more environmental motoring."

The four-seat convertible won't come cheap: $280,400 when it arrives at Bentley retailers this summer. But how else would you be able to move that much metal from zero to 60 miles an hour in 3.9 seconds?
