The Sugar Industry Taskforce has called an urgent meeting with stakeholders, including the Fiji Sugar Corporation and the Sugar Cane Growers Council to discuss the crushing rate at two sugar mills.
The meeting which was held in Lautoka earlier this morning focused on the crushing in the Rarawai and Lautoka sugar mills.
Its believed concerns has been raised about the large number of standing cane crops and also the low crushing figures at all sugar mills this year.
