After being on the list of possible new locations for ethanol plants in Nebraska, the proposed project just east of Bradshaw is no longer acknowledged by the Nebraska Ethanol Board.

The ethanol board has long kept track of plants in operation, those under construction, those that are idle and those “currently under consideration.” There is no longer any mention of the Northern Utilities project on the ethanol board’s website.

The only two ethanol plants listed as being under consideration are the Hi-Line Ethanol plant in Moorefield and Wauneta Ethanol, to be located near Wauneta.

While this doesn’t mean the project has been killed, it is an indication, at least, that the ethanol board does not consider it as possible as it once did.

The News-Times has attempted to contact the men originally seeking investments for the project — David and Trent Anderson — but has not been successful.

If the plant is built, original plans call for a 104 million-gallon ethanol plant at the southwest corner of Road 15 and Highway 34. The estimated assessed value of the project, according to earlier information from the company, was $136 million, with the total value of annual production estimated at $246 million.
