New Delhi, Apr 25 : The BJP today accused the Congress-led UPA of "funding" its election expenses through a sugar and cement "scam".
"Congress, NCP and other UPA constituents are collecting election fund through a scam by which the government first allowed sugar to be exported at Rs 18 per kg with subsidy and within three months allowed import of sugar at Rs 23 per kg. This is our charge," BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar told reporters here adding "this sugar scam will blow up in the face of UPA".
Javadekar said while the government had talked of eliminating "cartelisation" in cement industry, nothing has been done so far.
