Thailand's sugar cane production for the 2008-09 crop year will likely be nearly 67 million metric tons, Office of Cane & Sugar Board Secretary-General Prasert Tapaneeyangkul said Monday.

The official figure is in line with industry participants' estimate last week, and is 5% lower than the board's estimate of 70 million tons earlier this year.
Total raw and white sugar production is likely to reach 7.2 million tons in the crop year that began Oct. 1, Prasert told Dow Jones Newswires.
